Stafford Adams | Active Tag

Oh my favourite thing about these collars is that they got my cows in calf. Simple.

Stafford Adams

Dairy farmer, Glenavy

Stafford and Sarah Adams 50/50 share milk 420 cows at Glenavy. They started share milking in 2012 as lower order share milkers but have worked their way up. The biggest challenge is always getting cows in calf. Since using Active Tag they've noticed much happier staff, and a lot less time spent picking cows for AI.

Key takeaways:

  • The Active Tag collars mean there is no need to do any pre-mating heats. And no tail paint is required.
  • Sheds are a lot cleaner and there are significant time savings.
  • Datamars had the best ROI. Not the most expensive of the wearables, and has delivered fantastic results: 78% six-week in-calf rate. 8.5% empty rate from a nine-week and four-day mating.
