A pre-mating report shows your herd's cycling rate, in the lead-up to mating.

Why is pre-mating cycling important?

A high number of non-cycling cows can significantly impact overall reproductive performance. These cows reduce both the 3-week submission rate and the conception rate to first insemination - the two key drivers of a successful 6-week in-calf rate. Identifying and addressing non-cyclers early is essential to achieving reproductive targets and maintaining herd productivity.

The pre-mating reports

A pre-mating report will be sent once-a-week in the five weeks before the planned start of mating (PSM):

  • Day -28 (28 days before planned start of mating)
  • Day -21 (21 days before planned start of mating)
  • Day -14 (14 days before planned start of mating)
  • Day -7 (-7 days before planned start of mating)
  • PSM (planned start of mating)

Mating reports are generated weekly throughout the mating period. During the first three weeks, the key focus is achieving a 90% submission rate, a critical target linked to a high 6-week in-calf rate.
